How to Choose the Right Wick Size for a Candle?

Choosing the right wick size for a Candle is one of the most important steps to achieve a clean and even burn. The wick controls how the wax melts, how much fragrance is released, and how bright the flame burns. If the wick is too small, your Candle may tunnel, leaving wax around the edges. If it’s too large, the flame may smoke or burn too hot, reducing Candle life.

To select the perfect wick size, first consider your Candle’s diameter and wax type. Soy candles often need thicker wicks than paraffin candles because soy wax has a higher melting point. For a jar candle, measure the container’s top diameter — for example, a 7 cm jar typically works best with a medium cotton or wooden wick. You should also test-burn the candle for at least two hours to ensure even melting.

Always remember that wick performance depends on multiple factors: wax blend, fragrance oil load, and container material. Using high-quality wicks specifically designed for your wax type helps your candle burn longer and cleaner, improving both performance and customer satisfaction.
